Cav's Ethos
Symbiotick for me is a new chance to express myself through my music, for the band I feel it is the opportunity we have all been waiting for as we can now combine all aspects of every part of the music we love. As far as my electric bass playing is concerned I hope to bring music to the band through my wide influences, from bands such as Amen, Tool, Muse, Sigur Ros and Aphex Twin (to name a small few from the far reaches of today’s music). And I hope to include aspects of music gained from my years of classical training on ‘Cello and Double Bass, not only combining the styles of ‘classical’ music but bringing the instruments into our compositions. I have always had a ‘dream’ of being part of a band with such talented musicians as I have alongside me in Symbiotick, and from there to create music that is not only aesthetically pleasing but stretches my musical and technical ability on my instruments and puts all aspects of music I love into a proverbial hot-pot and create what is formally known as the progressive and contemporary music styles.
From the ‘limited’ period of time the band has been together (all of 6 months) I can see great musical and artistic ideas unfolding. Already deeply into what is to be a groundbreaking concept album (Eclipse) there is plethora of ideas flying around and firmly rooting themselves in the basis of this composition, of course it will only be the listeners who will decide if all our efforts have paid of, but in this early stage in development I would strongly argue that they have! The ‘other side’ of the band, crashing down the path of conventional full on metal songs I think will firmly compliment the ‘alternative’ face of ‘Eclipse’. I personally can’t wait to get this show on the road and destroy venues with our sound!
